MetroVancouver Parks Board - Critter Capers Game

The Brief

Design and fabricate a pop-up interactive installation based on the mini mystery story of Connie the Coyote and her missing lunch. The activity will involve 3 interactive clue stations that allow participants to solve the mystery in a fun and imaginative way while also learning some wildlife facts.

Considerations…

  • Should align with ‘Critter Caper’ story notes provided

  • Installation must pop up and be flexible to display apart or together on a table surface

  • Installation must break apart and pack down to enable transportation in a standard car

  • Installation shall have a protective soft case for carrying

  • Should be designed with an intended life span of 4 years.
(Average of 6 uses per summer)

The Result

The end product was created as 3 interactive stations which were large boards set up to give you clues about each animal to get to the final reveal box.

The Process

  1. Concept Design

A custom pop-up style installation consisting of multiple panels that guide users through the interactive story to help solve the mini mystery of Connie the Coyote’s missing lunch. The main ‘Clue Stations’ may be set up on a table either individually or together. The installation starts and finishes with an ‘Introduction Panel’ and ‘Reveal Box’, which are flexible in setup and placement.

2. Detailed Design

3. Build and Fabricate
